Why do business experts warn against Quit-Tok?
The moment of quitting smoking can be satisfying for many. However, business experts urge people not to do so, reports Fox Business. According to experts, the long-term consequences of quitting smoking in this way outweigh the immediate fun.
24-year-old Paige from Florida is someone who embraced the Quit-Tok trend and live-streamed her resignation from her job. However, she told Fox Business that she later regretted her actions.
“It was not a mature thing to do and my parents were on my back about it. Now I have a new job,” she said. “It seems like a cool way to show that you have power over others, but the next day, I felt like it was stupid,” she added.
According to the outlet, experts also say it can affect a person’s future employment prospects as the practice is seen as unprofessional and has an “element of revenge” attached to it.
“It often involves publicly going after their employers for alleged misconduct in some way,” Neil Costa, founder and CEO of Boston-based HireClix, told Fox Business. “Like a train wreck you can’t look away from, these videos are so shocking they go viral,” Costa added.
