ANYONE still mourning the loss of the hilarious fake documentary W1A can rejoice, as the series is getting a new spin-off – this time set in football’s governing body, FIFA.

Hugh Bonneville will revive his role as Ian Fletcher, and hopes are high that he will be joined by his hapless PR, Siobhan, played by Jessica Hynes.

Speaking to That Gaby Roslin’s podcast, actress Sarah Parish, who played the formidable Anna Rampton in the BBC One show, revealed the good news.

She said: “It says — maybe I’m talking across the street, I don’t know.

“John Morton, the writer, is so brilliant and so amazing at picking out the subtleties of the horrors of working in such a large institution, but he did it brilliantly. It was nice to be inside.

“So Ian Fletcher will continue. And I thought probably Siobhan could go with him because wherever Ian goes, Siobhan goes and does all her PR, very bad.

“So I’m hoping those two characters will see a rebirth in the second series.”

It’s been seven years since W1A last aired, featuring Hugh, Jessica and an all-star cast that included Jason Watkins, Monica Dolan, Hugh Skinner and narrator David Tennant.

It ran for three series and quickly became a classic for showing the bureaucracy and bizarre culture behind the scenes of a corporation.

Although the series itself was already a bit of a spin-off, having started life as Twenty Twelve, which was about the London 2012 Olympics.
