The woman has been identified as Jhansi Rani Samuel. While staying at the hotel, she produced a fake identity card in the name of Isha Dave.

Samuel stayed at Pullman Hotel in Aerocity near Delhi Airport. She stayed there for 15 days and her bill came to around Rs 6 lakh, including hotel spa services worth Rs 2,11,708. According to reports, she also made fraudulent transactions worth around INR 5,88,176.

The police said that Samuel claimed that she had made transactions on ICICI Bank’s UPI app, but the hotel, after reconciling the payments, found that none of her payments had been received by the bank. “It is suspected that the app she used was suspicious,” said a Delhi Police official.

The hotel called the police and Samuel was arrested by the Delhi Police on January 13. However, her motive for staying near the airport has not yet been established.

The Delhi Police approached their counterparts in Andhra Pradesh to gather information about Samuel. They added that the accused is not cooperating with the police in the investigation.

During the initial investigation, she claimed that she was a doctor and that her husband was also a medical professional from New York. The police official said that this information is yet to be determined.

According to Delhi Police, Samuel was arrested for cheating. However, several more charges were later added to the FIR. These are Sections 419 (punishment for cheating by false representation), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 471 (using a forged document as an original) of the IPC.
