Tim Cook announces Apple’s relief efforts for Brazil floods: ‘My heart goes out to…’

The Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul was hit by heavy rains that caused floods in which at least 90 people lost their lives. More than 130 are missing and more than 370 are injured. The population is currently being evacuated with the help of volunteers and aid teams. In response to the tragic situation, the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, announced that the company will donate aid to flood victims in southern Brazil. However, the exact amount of the donation was not announced.

“Our hearts go out to those affected by the devastating and tragic floods in Brazil. Apple will donate to relief efforts on the ground,” Cook wrote on X.

The floods in southern Brazil are the biggest in the last 80 years. Nearly 25,000 residents have been forced to leave their homes in Rio Grande do Sul since April 27, the day the storm began. In some cities, the water level is the highest in the last 150 years, the BBC reports.

However, according to the Brazilian Geological Survey, the amount of rain has now started to decrease.
