Teacher arrested for ‘making out’ with 5th grader, her ’embarrassed’ fiancé breaks engagement

Wisconsin elementary school teacher Madison Bergmann, 24, was arrested for “kissing” a fifth-grader. Shortly after she was taken into custody, her fiance Sam Hickman called off the wedding, according to one of his friends. Bergmann and Hickman were due to marry in July, but the discovery of her affair with one of her students 11 years her senior put an end to their relationship, according to reports.

“It’s been postponed indefinitely. And it’s probably not going to happen. Sam is really upset and heartbroken. He’s embarrassed and furious. He didn’t deserve this. Everyone is furious,” one of Hickman’s friends told the New York Post.

He also added, “It was more like, ‘Well, obviously, it’s not going to happen this summer.’ All he has to say is he’s still in shock, but she also cheated on him with a toddler.

According to the indictment, Bergmann was arrested when the victim’s parents discovered the interaction between the two. The boy’s father then notified River Crest Elementary School, which launched an investigation. The texts contained intimate messages from Bergmann describing his actions inside the classroom at lunch or after school.

In addition, according to police, they discovered a folder in the victim’s purse with her name on it and scribbled notes about how often they kissed, the New York Post reported.

The duration of the attack remains unknown, but the alleged perpetrator told investigators that she got the boy’s phone number from his mother in December when the family invited her on a winter vacation in the Afton Alps.
