Steve Drazkowski was born in Winona, Minnesota on November 27, 1964 and grew up on a farm near Bluff Siding, Wisconsin. He attended Cochrane-Fountain City High School and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. He received his master’s degree in education from the University of Minnesota in 1994.

Steve Drazkowski is a gun safety educator with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, a Wabasha County 4-H volunteer and past president of the Minnesota Forage and Grassland Council. In 2006, Drazkowski ran an unsuccessful campaign for the 28th Minnesota Senate District seat.
He then campaigned and was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in a special election held on August 7, 2007, when Rep. Steve Sviggum resigned to become the Minnesota Commissioner of Labor and Industry. He was re-elected in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020.
