Taking the first flight of his life, Ryley Tate Wilson arrived in La-La Land to perform in front of the star-studded judges. But her nerves didn’t stop her from rocking Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” during The Voice season 23 blind audition and earning that coveted row in four coaches’ chairs.
“Ryley, my head almost exploded. That was by far the best audition we’ve ever seen here,” judge Niall said after hearing the impressive performance.
The judges were even more delighted when Ryley revealed that she was only 15 years old. In response, Kelly said: “Wait wait wait, I haven’t heard anything past 15. You’re 15 and you sound like that? Oh Lord.”
Niall also remembered the time when he was 15 years old and auditioned for a show like this. “She was shaking like a leaf,” she said before mentioning that she couldn’t feel the audience’s nerves. “It’s so nice to hear that a 15-year-old boy is so confident in his own abilities. It seemed to me that if he made you sing that song again, you wouldn’t sing it the same way twice. It’s an amazing way to keep people on their toes.”
So that’s when the tug of war started to get Ryley on his team. Kelly tried to win Wilson over to her team by pointing out that she turned the chair first, while rapper Chance hinted that she likes “experimental R&B” in her voice. Coach Blake then bragged about his wins and experience in the series over 23 seasons, while Niall’s desperation to bring him to the team was clear from the start.
Ultimately, Ryley chose Team Niall because he believed he would soon “go through a voice change, and he [Niall] It would really guide me through the singing through the voice change.”
After successfully convincing Ryley to be on the team, Horan danced onstage in front of Shelton and the other coaches. “Ryley, Ryley, Ryley, how do we start this?” He said.
Now that Ryley is on Team Niall, he said it was “one of the best decisions” he’s ever made.
