Big Brother Naija’s former housemate, Rico Swavey, passed away on October 13, 2022 at the age of 29 after an accident a few days earlier. Tobi Bakre and Sandra Alexandra, both appearing on BB Naija, shared the news on Twitter. Tobi says:

Sandra also shared her grief over Swavey’s sudden death in a tweet:

Cause of death
Rico Swavey passed away in a car crash on Tuesday, October 11. After the event, he fell into a coma and Nigerian celebrities organized a fundraiser to help spend money. pay for his care. Tobi Bakre revealed that Swavey used the machine while donating money on social media. Swavey’s management also confirmed the story and even released a video of the crushed car. Tobi said on Twitter:

Sandra Alexandra announced Swavey’s accident on Twitter and announced on her Instagram Story that he is in critical condition and needs everyone’s prayers and financial support. She continued:
“I also wish I could give more information about his health, but how can I when we are still waiting for the doctors and God to save this sweet life, or at least for Rico to respond? Anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated as he is on life support and fighting for his life. Officer @ricoswavey needs our help. #ricoswavey #ricoswaveypray”

Swavey’s family members survived him. He has never talked about his private life and there is no word on whether he is married or dating.
All about Ric Swavey
He was born in 1992 and attended Babcock University, where he studied law. He has seven siblings, and he excels at singing and swimming. Swavey was involved in music before joining Big Brother. He also appeared in a number of films. He recorded the song Afrosantana and starred in the movie Tinsel and the TV series Life 101.
While competing on Huge Brother Naija, he was asked what he would do with $1 million, to which Swavey replied that he would stay in a big house and catch the waves. On January 28, 2018, he joined Big Brother Naija and said that cooking is his method of expression because he prepares the most for his housemates. Rico Swavey was dropped from the show after ten weeks and seventy days. After being eliminated, he admitted that he liked one of his housemates, Ahneeka. He joined the program to help his autistic cousin and invested in his music career.
