Just Nacua News

Along with Cooper Kupp and Van Jefferson, the Los Angeles Rams will need someone to step up the offense this season, and Touchdown Wire’s Jarrett Bailey thinks it will be rookie Puk Nacu. Natcua was the heavy favorite when picking the NFL player at each position who could have a big year in 2023.

By all accounts, the Rams can give former BYU star Deeb Samuel a discount. While the rest of the roster could be filled with LinkedIn candidates, Nacua has a chance to shine in an offense that, outside of Kupp, lacks a star.

Nacu, a BYU wide receiver, was selected by the Rams in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft because of his flexibility and ability to gain yards after the catch. In his final two collegiate seasons, Nacua amassed 1,430 receiving, 357 rushing and 16 combined touchdowns (11 receiving, 5 rushing).

The Rams have given Nacua plenty of significant opportunities to practice since the start of OTAs and throughout training camp, and he has continued to impress the coaching staff. Only Demarcus Robinson, Tutu Atwell, Ben Skowronek and Tyler Johnson are vying for the third spot on the list, behind Kupp and Jefferson.

In contested catch scenarios, the rookie has demonstrated his strong handwork, which could lead to him getting more work as a traditional receiver rather than just a gadget guy. Nacua isn’t known yet, but he has a chance to as a rookie in a playmaker-starved Rams offense.
