Years later, his brother Chuck theorised that the three Jackson sons were so fervently involved in sports because it was the only time they were permitted to engage in activities that other kids were participating in. Jackson caught the eye of numerous baseball scouts. Their notes were discovered by Bill Fitch, a future NBA coach who had previously taught baseball and was serving as a scout for the Atlanta Braves.
