Ruby Speaking followed call center worker Ruby, played by Jayde Adams.

Viewers saw that character as the life and soul of her workplace as she and her colleagues entered the choir competition.

However, it was axed after one series as an ITV spokesperson told TVZone: “Ruby Speaking will unfortunately not be returning for a second series, we would like to thank the cast and crew for their hard work in bringing [Ruby Speaking] on our screens.”

The series also starred Katherine Kelly, Joe Sims, Sam Swainsbury, Jamal Franklin and Nicky Goldie.

Meanwhile, ITV also revealed that Count Abdulla suffered the same fate.

The show centered on Abdulla Khan – a British-Pakistani Muslim caught in an identity crisis.

Viewers saw the character, played by The Bay’s Arian Nik, dragged along by his religious mother and hedonistic friends.

His problems worsened when he became the ultimate outsider after being bitten by a vampire and turned into one himself.

An ITV spokesperson said: “Unfortunately Count Abdulla will not be returning for a second series, we would like to thank the cast and crew for their hard work in creating [Count Abdulla] on our screens.”
