Inside King Charles’ ’emotional’ lunch with ‘beloved daughter-in-law’ Kate hours before she revealed cancer diagnosis

The Princess of Wales and the King had a heart-to-heart at Windsor Castle hours before she announced she was suffering from cancer.

Charles, who also has the illness, traveled from London for a private lunch with his “beloved daughter-in-law” Kate on Thursday.

Kate wanted to speak to 75-year-old King about his battle and find out how he is coping.

The pair are also believed to have discussed Kate’s video post, in which she said the revelation was a “huge shock” but promised she would “be fine”.

A source said of the gathering at Windsor Castle: “It’s very unusual for just the two of them to be sitting together like this.

“The king has already been informed that the woman he calls ‘my beloved daughter-in-law’ has cancer.

“They would have a lot to discuss and share because just a few weeks earlier the king had started treatment and was busy announcing his diagnosis.

INGRID SEWARD: Prince William is a pillar of strength for Kate

CONSTANT when his family needed him, William proved to be a man and future ruler of strength and compassion.

While he may not have been present during Kate’s brave video address on Friday – make no mistake, he was by her side every step of the way.

William stepped up school duties and provided “a great source of comfort and security” to his wife.

But he was also a comforting and encouraging presence to the public.

From leading the royals at the Commonwealth Day Service to enjoying a jovial banter with youngsters during a visit to a youth centre, he didn’t put a foot wrong.

Just this week he visited Sheffield to highlight his Homewards project to end homelessness in the UK.

Even then, there were a few cracks in his facade – but Kate was clearly on his mind.

“He must be sitting here hearing this,” he smiled as the discussion turned to the challenges of young families.

But ultimately he is only human.

Having your father and your wife diagnosed with cancer in such quick succession is devastating.

It is a remarkable insight into the character of this young man that he was so incredibly brave.

Theirs is a very private turmoil that has been brought into the public arena due to the nature of their roles as future king and queen.

William must feel the weight of enormous responsibility, both personally and for the monarchy, of which he is now the public face.

But he knows that his most important role is dad and husband.

That will be his priority.

This is a clear difference from the customs of the past, where your royal role took precedence over that of spouse and parent.

Remember when the Queen was young.

WILLS’ PRIORITY It was a man’s world then – and she was forced to abandon her children in a way William was determined not to.

William and Kate waited until the school term was over and their children were home before making the public announcement.

They had to be prepared.

In this, she will have the wholehearted support of Charles – who knows what it feels like to raise those nannies.

William was also acutely aware of his own father’s lack of presence in his life, especially when things went wrong.

In 1991, he was accidentally hit on the head with a golf club while at school, while Diana was having lunch at her favorite restaurant, San Lorenzo.

A call came in that William had been hit on the head and they thought he might die, so it was very serious.

Both Charles and Diana hurried to Ludgrove.

William was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital and then to Great Ormond Street Hospital, and Diana went with him.

But Charles has always been a man of duty, he prioritized his engagements.

William is determined to do things differently.

“The king left the lunch very emotional.

“They are very close and he considers Catherine his daughter.

“There is no doubt that there is much that they can share and use to support each other during their deeply personal battles with cancer.”

It is understood Charles was aware of Kate’s battle with cancer before traveling from London for the lunch.

Queen Camilla is also said to be a pillar of support and is in regular contact with Kate.

Kate and husband William took time off work for a few weeks to be with their children George (10), Charlotte (8) and Louis (5).

Well-wishers began leaving flowers at Windsor Castle for Kate today.

She was admitted to the hospital for abdominal surgery on January 16, but at that time it was not known if there was cancer.

She stayed in the hospital for 13 nights. Kensington Palace urged the world not to speculate and said she would be away from work until April.

Now that the surgery was found to be “non-cancerous”, subsequent tests revealed that cancer was present.

In her own words, Kate revealed that she needed time to recover from the surgery before starting the preventive chemotherapy.

Cancer treatment began in late February and was the reason William withdrew from the Thanksgiving service at the time, citing a “personal matter”.

Kate’s disappearance from the public eye has sparked vile and sickening online abuse and sparked wild and unfounded conspiracy theories.

The Sun exclusively revealed on Monday that the Prince and Princess of Wales were shopping at Windsor Farm Shop last weekend and watching their children play sports.

Our video, released 24 hours later and shared around the world, showed Kate looking “relaxed and happy”.

Kate then recorded her personal message while sitting on a bench in Windsor Gardens on Wednesday.

The video was released on Friday night, with Kate telling the world she is “getting stronger every day” and told her children “I will get better”.

Harry and Meghan’s ‘cheerleader’ takes aim at Kate Middleton moments after cancer diagnosis

By Scarlet Howes and Thomas Godfrey

A PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle Netflix “cheerleader” has taken aim at Kate Middleton moments after her cancer diagnosis shocked the world.

Christopher Bouzy, who starred in Harry and Meghan’s Netflix show, trolled Kate on X/Twitter 31 minutes after her video was released.

The tech mogul, 48, said Kate’s illness was staged like “North Korean propaganda”.

Bouzy, who had been spreading conspiracy theories about William and Kate splitting up, later joined an online meeting of 300 Harry and Meghan supporters.

One attendee even questioned whether the princess’ cancer diagnosis was legitimate.

Another claimed Kate’s diagnosis gave her a “free pass” from answering questions about her photoshop edits to a Mother’s Day picture.

Another friend of the Sussexes, Omid Scobie, deleted a tasteless post on Friday in which the alarm clock was set for 6pm – the time Kate made her cancer statement.

This caused much speculation as to what would be released.

The author of Endgame (42) later deleted the post after users criticized him.

He said: “When news circulated that there was an announcement coming from the palace at 6pm, I tweeted a picture of the time so followers could keep an eye out.

“When I found out how serious the news ended up being, I removed the tweet to stop any speculation.”

Meanwhile, the New York Post reported that Harry and Meghan had made “private contact” with William and Kate after being “blindsided” by the news.

It is claimed that Harry and Meghan only found out about Kate’s cancer diagnosis from her video statement – at the same time as the rest of the world.

A source said: “They had no idea. This shows the irreparable damage they have caused.

“Trust has been broken and the royal family is fine to distance themselves from them.”

After Charles announced on February 5 that he had cancer, Kensington Palace revealed that Kate and Wills were in regular contact with the king.

Speaking to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak when they met last month, Charles said: “I have received so many wonderful messages and congratulations that most of the time it brought me to tears.”

The King spent most of his working days at Windsor Castle, but regularly traveled to London to perform official royal duties at Buckingham Palace.

He left Windsor Castle at 11am on Friday to rest for the weekend at his Highgrove House residence in Gloucestershire.

The Queen has been busy with big engagements, including last week’s visit to Northern Ireland.

While there, she told well-wishers that her husband was “very well” and “very disappointed he couldn’t come”, for what was originally supposed to be a joint visit.

Meanwhile, Kate has been recuperating at Adelaide Cottage, Windsor, with William, 41, and their children.

They will not be attending the family’s Easter Sunday service, which is due to be held at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

It is understood the king hopes to take the family to the ceremony at Easter.

The Queen, 76, also hopes to join her husband at the service, which is expected to be a scaled-down affair with just a handful of royals.

She replaced Charles and William at the service of thanksgiving for the life of the Greek king Constantine II. in the chapel in February.

Kate and William have asked for privacy as they spend time together during their children’s school holidays.

Kate’s statement on Friday was issued to coincide with the end of the school year for all three children.
