This makes it easy to see all your devices in one place – but if you decide to remove the lock from your property, you’ll need to remove it from your key fob as well. The same goes for visiting an Airbnb with a smart lock, as hosts will often enter lock information into your key fob for easy access during your stay.
But how do you remove a location from your Yale keychain?
Fortunately, the procedure is painless, although there are a few wrinkles you’ll need to work out. Here’s a look at how to remove a home from your Yale Keychain account.

How to Remove a House from a Yale Keychain
There are several ways to remove a house (or lock) from a Yale Keychain. The easiest way is if you are a guest on Airbnb. In these cases, the property is usually automatically removed after your stay is over. If this does not happen, you may need to contact the Airbnb host to remove you from their guest list. Alternatively, lockout guests can try the following steps (although please note that this procedure may not work in all situations):
Step 1: Open the Yale Access app.
Step 2: Find the lock you want to remove from the keychain.
Step 3: Go to Guest list tab at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4: Press Remove yourself.
Step 5: You will be greeted with several pop-ups asking if you want to confirm the process. If you confirm the process, you will be removed from the lock and will no longer appear in your Keychain.
How to remove a house from your Yale Keychain as the owner of the lock
If you are not a guest and are instead the owner of the lock, you can follow different steps to remove the lock. However, this requires a full factory reset.
Step 1: Open the Yale Access app.
Step 2: Find the product you want to reset and click on it.
Step 3: Open it settings menu (located in the lower right corner of the screen).
Step 4: Choose Lock settings.
Step 5: Choose Factory reset.
Step 6: This will then walk you through the entire operation.
Note that a factory reset will reset all lock settings to their default state. This is great if you want to sell the lock or remove it from your home, but not ideal if you plan to move it to another door. In these cases, it may be better to simply rename the lock instead of doing a factory reset.
Renaming can also be done in the Yale app, as you’ll just need to go to the Settings menu, find your device, and then select The name of the lock. You can quickly change its name from here. Consider using this option if you’re moving it from the front door to the garage or back door, as it’s much easier than doing a full factory reset.
Also note that factory reset may give you an error if you are not connected to Bluetooth. If this happens, try bringing your mobile device closer to the smart lock and enabling Bluetooth on your phone. Some products may offer you a “Cancel Anyway” option, which allows you to cancel even if you’re not around – for example after selling the lock or moving to a new property.
