Over many years of updates and expansions, Sea of thieves has had several notable crossovers with other pirate franchises. The pirates of the Carribean crossover allows you to team up with the legendary Jack Sparrow, but Monkey Island the content seemed to come out of nowhere. For those who don’t know, Monkey Island is a series of point-and-click pirate games that were as funny as the puzzles were obscure. Fortunately, you don’t have to intuitively guess that you need to combine the cat’s whisker with the jar to get around the skeleton guard to get to this new content, but it’s more challenging than you think.

How to get Monkey Island content
There are four main steps you need to take before you are granted access Monkey Island and all the content it offers. After completing A Pirate’s Life Tall Tale, you can discover tons of little references and bits of lore related to the classic series.
Step 1: Start the grand story of “A Pirate’s Life” from the menu or by visiting The Castaway at any of the game’s outposts.
Step 2: Follow the objective to the creepy pirate town and find the Haunted Captain in the cage after lighting the lamp and going inside.
Step 3: You need to find the secret recipe by entering the ship from the left side and along the mast down into the water to find a pulley system that you can use to get to the Captain’s Quarters, which are locked.
Step 4: Here, find another pulley that raises cargo that you can use to platform up to the next ship.
Step 5: Turn right to find another pulley to move a set of planks close enough to jump over both and go across the gap.

Step 6: Go to the nearby cave and find Captain Bones’ special recipe, but leave it on that ship.
Step 7: Go back to the mast and climb above the Haunted Captain and cut the rope to drop the cage.
Step 8: Now take the recipe and leave it next to the cage so you can pick up the Haunted Captain’s skull.

Step 9: Look for the ship with the red sails and find the gold trail on the ground that leads to the graveyard.
Step 10: Dig up a fresh grave to find poor Dougie and he’ll ask you to fetch the treasure that his key unlocks.
Step 11: Return to the cage and head left across the wooden platform to the back of the other ship.
Step 12: Inside will be a skeleton on a bed with curtains you can move before exiting through the door to the right up some stairs.
Step 13: Light all three lamps on the path, then go back down and move the skeleton arm.
Step 14: This will point the magnifying glass at the treasure map.
Step 15: Go back outside to where the path forks to the tavern and another broken ship. Dig right where the road forks.
Step 16: Take the treasure you find back to Poor Dougie and he will let you open it and collect Poor Dougie’s locket.
Step 17: Return the locket to the captain and pick up the recipe you left there to take to the fork.
Step 18: Go left into the broken ship and find two pirates playing chess.
Step 19: Light the candle and let the two of them play, refilling one of the skeleton’s recipe drinks when they realize it’s empty.

Step 20: After a fierce finish to the match, place the medallion on the table and the captain’s skull on the now headless skeleton to end the game.
Step 21: Take the ship’s key all the way to the Captain’s Quarters we mentioned at the beginning.
Step 22: Use the pulleys to adjust the sails, then go get the skull once more to take to the lighthouse.
Step 23: Place the skull on the second headless skeleton at the top while lighting the beacon at the top and the three lamps on the cliffs. Ignore the incoming Ferry of the Damned for now.
Step 24: Aim the beacon light as far to the right as you can and look for a hidden ember that will start a series of green fires.
Step 25: Go back to the pirate town and you will see a new sign saying “Sailor’s Grave” next to the new bridge.
Step 26: Cross it and you will hear Monkey Island the music starts and you can start exploring the secrets of the island!
