E3 isn’t happening this year, but plenty of independently created live streams of video game announcements are popping up. From Sony to Geoff Keighley to THQ Nordic, many people and companies are broadcasting video game live streams that game fans will want to watch this summer. These are the top video game discovery-focused live streams you should keep an eye on between June and August 2022 via Digital Trends’ Summer Gaming Marathon coverage. June 2: State of PlayState of Play | June 2, 2022 [ENGLISH]Sony is holding another State of Play at 3:00 PM PT on June 2nd. Similar to the March showcase, this one will feature multiple games, rather than being dedicated to a single game like Sony’s Gran Turismo 7 and Hogwarts Legacy State of Play streams. June 6: LRG3 Showcase Physical game distributor Limited Run Games and Mega64 have announced that they will hold the third annual LRG Showcase at 1:00 PM PT on June 6, 2022 on Twitch. The LRG3 Showcase will feature a total of 30 games, mostly highlighting titles that Limited Run Games plans to release in physical form over the next year. June 7: Sonic Central June is a big month for Sonic as Sega continues to share new information about Sonic Frontiers and prepares to release Sonic Origins on June 23rd. As part of June’s blue blur festivities, Sega is holding another Sonic Central livestream to reveal “the project, partnerships, and events happening in 2022.” It starts at 9am PT on June 7th. June 9: Upload VR Showcase VR gaming fans will want to tune in to the Upload VR Showcase at 8 a.m. on June 9. This presentation is solely focused on highlighting upcoming VR games from developers big and small. Cult of the Lamb is confirmed to be there, and Devolver also promises to reveal some new games during the show. This live stream will focus specifically on the final content for Outriders: Worldslayer, the massive expansion for the sci-fi shooter coming out on June 30. June 10: Tribeca Games Spotlight As part of Summer Game Fest, Tribeca will highlight its 2022 game picks livestream at 12:00 PM PT on June 10. We know that Tribeca’s selection of games this year are A Plague Tale: Requiem, American Arcadia, As Dusk Falls, Cuphead – The Delicious Last Course, Immortality, Oxenfree II: Lost Signals, The Cub, Thirsty Suitors and Venba, so this livestream will not have lots of surprises. However, it will provide updates on some of the most beautiful indie games in the industry. June 11: Future of Play DirectFuture of Play Direct Livestream I Summer of Gaming 2022IGN joins the video game screening party with the Future of Play Direct at 10:30am PT on June 11th. IGN promises the event will have “new game announcements, announcements, musical performances, special guests and more.” While the event will likely be focused on indie titles, there could be some cool new games appearing during this showcase. Event organizers tease that this year’s event will have “new game reveals, exclusive footage, and even games launching during the show,” so it’s worth tuning in if you want to see what sweet indie games should be on your radar. June 11: Future Games ShowFuture Games Show 2022GamesRadar is having another game showcase at 12pm PT on June 11th. The Future Games Show livestreams often focus on highlighting cool indie and AA games, so don’t expect the next big AAA bomb to be here. But we can expect discoveries from companies like Amanita Design, Team17 and Thunderful. In all, GamesRadar claims that 40 games will be showcased during June’s Future Games Show. The first launch takes place at 8am PT on June 11th, with the second one following at 1pm PT on June 13th. The Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase (still no Activision) returns at 10am PT on June 12th. Although Redfall and Starfield were recently pushed back to 2023, this will likely feature our best look at these games yet! On top of that, there are plenty of other upcoming Xbox exclusives that Microsoft could showcase such as Avowed, Fable, the new Forza Motorsport, Contraband and Perfect Dark. Ultimately, Microsoft has a lot to prove with this year’s showcase as it needs to show why 2022 will continue to be a compelling year for Xbox consoles and Game Pass without Redfall and Starfield.
