Emmerdale star completely unrecognisable as she’s seen for the first time on set of Prince Naseem movie

SHE recently slammed her former soap star for the brutal handling of her character’s departure.

Now former Emmerdale actress Katherine Dow is having the last laugh after being cast in a major British film starring Pierce Brosnan.

Katherine, who played vicar Harriet Finch in The Dales for nine years, looked unrecognizable on the set of Prince Naseem’s film, Giant.

The actress (59) plays the legendary boxing coach Brendan Ingle [Brosnan] wife Alma.

Our exclusive photos of her on set show Katherine with a ginger perm, as opposed to her usual longer and darker make-up, as she enters the house.

Wearing glasses and a green coat, Katherine smiled subtly as she walked inside.

Her equally unrecognizable co-star Brosnan, 70, was nearby, smiling as he marched down the street in a dark brown suit and tie.

Giant tells the real-life story of Naseem as he rose through the boxing ranks to become one of Britain’s most celebrated sports stars of all time.

The story will follow him from his humble beginnings in working-class Sheffield and the unorthodox training he underwent with Ingle to international acclaim.

Playing in the 80s and 90s, Naseem must face and overcome rampant Islamophobia and racism in order to dominate in the ring.

Amir Al-Masry, most recently seen as young Muhammed Al-Fayed in The Crown, will take on the role of Naseem, while Gangs of London writer Rowan Athale wrote and directed the sports drama.

Ingle, who passed away in 2018, coached four world champions during his time as coach – Johnny Nelson, Naseem Hamed, Junior Witter and Kell Brook.

At the time, he ran a gym across the street from a corner store owned by Naseem’s parents.

He took Naseem under his wing at the age of seven and taught him to box when, at that time, he was not a professional trainer.

The couple worked together until the age of 25, when things between them soured due to a combination of ego and money.

Ingle tried to end ties with Naseem in 1997, before they split in 1998.

Alma, who died of cancer in 2020, was a boxing legend in her own right.

She was the first female amateur boxing referee in the North East when she qualified in 1975.

A regular at the Ingle gym, she earned her promotional license in 1981 – making her only the second woman in the country to hold one.

She was then elected to the divisional committee of the British Boxing Board of Control.

EXIT WITH SOAP

Meanwhile, Katherine’s Harriet was killed off during the show’s 50th anniversary month in October 2022.

During the storm, she fell off her quad bike, which then crushed her after the explosion.

“I went up there and they basically said, ‘We love Harriet and we’re going to kill her off,'” she told the Soap From the Box podcast.

“I sat for ten seconds and thought, did I do something wrong? They say you don’t take it personally, but it’s impossible not to.

“I was taken aback. I said, ‘Well, you don’t know what to do with me anyway, do you?’

“I tried to get out of the building, sat in the car and burst into tears because it was a shock.

“I was ready to leave for a while, to be fair, but making the decision to leave a good job is a big decision and I’m glad they did because I probably wouldn’t have been brave enough.”

Despite her shock, Katherine was already uncomfortable with the changes done to Harriet.

The character became an accomplice to murder when she covered up the murder of her ex-lover and dug up his body in dark scenes.

Harriet suffered a breakdown before resigning as a vicar and rejoining the force as a constable – something that didn’t sit well with Katherine.

“Going back to work as a policewoman at my age was, I think, a little left field,” she said.

“For the first time in my almost ten years, I felt uncomfortable in my own skin because it just didn’t seem right.

“When Harriet came in she was such a fantastic character, she was a bit mean, a bit off the wall, she had a sense of humour. When you laughed and saw Harriet laugh?
