Pereira and Atkins allegedly killed drug dealer Simon Shotton

The 48-year-old’s limbs were removed with a saw, and his legs were thrown into a plastic bag on the cliff path.

Winchester Crown Court heard how Pereira and Atkins were filmed bragging about the killing in a police van after their arrest.

Pereira asked her boyfriend, “Do you regret anything?” prompting him to reply, “I’ll look them straight in the eye and say, ‘Yeah. I’d do it again and again and again.

“If you let me go today, I’d find another one and do it again. Drug dealers and pushers. Kill, decapitate and eat the f—ing.”

Atkins also bragged about “cooking” Shotton’s head and “eating his cheeks”, jurors were told.

The court heard how the horror unfolded in August last year at the popular resort.

Prosecutor Paul Calvin KC said: “[Simon] was killed, his body dismembered and various body parts discovered last summer in the Boscombe area of Bournemouth.

“The facts surrounding this case are chilling.”

Jurors heard pedestrian Dana Burton was handing out leaflets on the bank when she sought shelter from the rain under a tree.

Then a “big package” fell in front of her that “smelled” like something was rotting, it was said.

Ms Burton initially left the package but later examined it when she realized it had moved and the gray masking tape on it had come loose.

The prosecutor said: “She went to the package and realized it was in the shape of a human foot and some of it had become exposed.

“Those observations combined with the horrible smell made her realize she should report it to the police.”

“Smell of Death”

Officers searched the area around the Manor Steps Zig Zag, a path leading to the beach, and discovered another branch.

Simon’s headless torso was later found in a black coffin in Boscombe Chine Gardens after a police officer followed the “smell of death”, it was said.

The court heard that a post-mortem was carried out and a pathologist noted that the amputations were “enough amateurish not to have been surgically removed”.

Police identified Simon using the remains and found he had been squatting in an “abandoned” bed and breakfast in Boscombe.

Using data collected from his phone, they discovered Pereira had taken it to a pawn shop on Aug. 18, jurors were told.

The court heard that officers went to the couple’s home, where Simon’s severed hands were found in two bin bags outside.

Atkins to his girlfriend

Pereira and Atkins were charged and taken to Poole Magistrates’ Court unaware that police had planted a “secret device” in the back of the van.

In the video, Atkins can be heard telling his girlfriend: “I went to the garden to get rid of the fucking gun.”

Pereira later told police: “[Atkins] he told his lawyer that if he admits he did it, if he admits he boiled Simon’s head and ate his cheeks, will that get me off the hook.”

She also claimed that Simon had been staying at her home for two weeks before his death but that Atkins “didn’t like him” because he was not giving them enough medication, it was said.

Pereira claimed that she heard shouting one night and later woke up to find Atkins in the garden by the fire.

Atkins denies murder but admitted perverting the course of justice and preventing the burial of a corpse, while Pereira denies all three counts.

The trial continues.
