A Utah couple accidentally packed their pet cat along with several Amazon returns in a box. The cat traveled from Utah to California, packed in a box and lasted six days without food or water. Yes, you read that right.

Galena, a six-year-old American shorthair cat owned by Carrie Clark, snuck into a three-by-three-foot cardboard box meant to be returned from Amazon, along with five pairs of steel-toed boots. After that, the cat was moved to one of the company’s warehouses in two different locations, where it was found by Amazon employees, The New York Times reported.

According to The Guardian, Galena was relatively healthy despite her dire situation. She only faced mild dehydration. Two things working in Galena’s favor were that the weather was warm, preventing her from freezing or overheating, and one of the box’s seams had burst, allowing oxygen to flow through.
Co-workers told Brandy Hunter, an Amazon employee at the California warehouse, that they discovered the cat in the returned shipment. Galena was put up for the night by Hunter, who later took the cat to a nearby vet, the Guardian reported. (Also Read: Cat destroys man’s feeble attempt to stop him from opening closet)
The vet called the Clarks to tell them that Galena was now in their care after scanning Galena’s microchip. To reunite, the Clarks boarded a plane and flew to California.
“She doesn’t meow much and she likes boxes, so she was very happy at the time, I’m sure. Although I’m sure that wasn’t the case later,” Clark told The Guardian.
