Speeding things up, Bravo’s Summer House spin-off Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard features only black businessmen sharing a space during the hottest months of the year. Obviously, that meant a lot of relationship drama, friendly fights, love triangles, and more!
“If you don’t know, black quintessential is Martha’s Vineyard, and Martha’s Vineyard is black quintessential,” says Bria Fleming in the trailer. She but she learned of Vinograd’s story only after joining the show.
Martha’s Vineyard actually has a long history of welcoming black tourists and was one of the first beach destinations where African Americans could vacation and buy real estate.
“Some have asked why the show only has an all-black cast, so I think people will understand it better when they learn more about Martha’s Vineyard,” Bria added.
Looking back on her journey on the show, Bria shared that she would have been delighted as a teenager. “When I started high school, I watched all these reality shows. Then I went to high school in Calabasas, so the Kardashians were obviously on my mind,” she explained. “It took me a long time to get to this point, but I’m glad I was able to achieve my goals and be a part of such a great show because Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard is such a big deal. To be in an all-black cast and the behind-the-scenes story…it’s a lot.”
Additionally, he was honored to be able to represent the black community and showcase black excellence. But having said that, she also points out that at the end of the day, she’s just her and she can’t represent everyone.
