Wilford Dean Carter is the father of April Carter. He is the son of JB Carter and Arina “Ella Mae” Victorian Carter. Wilford’s parents were married for 51 years.
His father was born on April 27, 1927 in Church Point, Louisiana, the son of Norris and Mathilde Mayfield Carter.
Wilford began his successful career in paint and bodywork as a young man, after working for Watts-Pumpelly Volkswagen, Cagle Chevrolet and Shetler Lincoln Mercury. He was a proud member of Cornerstone Masonic Lodge #229 for sixty-five years. He was also a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church for over seventy years and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, which he began attending when he courted his “Ella Mae.”
JB died on December 2, 2017. Some of his aunts and uncles include Eddie Carter (Elizabeth), Shirley Dejean, Alice Zachary (Andrew), DW Carter (Willie), Nancy Carter, Reverend Joshua Hanchett (Sherry), Mark Carter and David. Carter (Tamika).
