9-year-old runs a mile in storm to get help after tornado tosses parents’ car: ‘Don’t die, I’ll be back’

The story of the brave boy and how he saved his parents’ lives went viral on social media. Nine-year-old Branson showed extraordinary bravery as he ran through the storm to get help for his mum and dad, whose car got stuck after being thrown by a tornado.

“The 27th On April 1, Wayne and Lindy Baker were seriously injured after their truck was hit by an EF-4 tornado in Marietta, Okla. – their son was traveling with them. A tree uprooted by the weather crashed into the car, trapping Branson’s parents inside. Although scared, their 9-year-old ran a mile and a half in the storm through downed power lines until he got help,” the Goodnews Movement Instagram page wrote.

“Branson’s father, Wayne, said it could have gone a lot differently and credits his son with being a hero: ‘We could see the tornado about a mile, two miles away from us. But as we turned around, the tornado turned itself,’ they added.

Wayne is currently recovering from his injuries and his wife Lindy is still in hospital but is expected to make a full recovery.

I was really, really scared, Branson told ABC News. “As soon as I went to get help, I said, ‘Don’t die,'” the nine-year-old recalled.

The paper reported that Branson was scheduled to play a basketball game the day after the incident. Not only did he participate in the game, but he also hit a home run that he said was for his mom and dad.
