Vicky, from Thornaby, North Yorkshire, did everything in her power in the months leading up to her death to create memories with her son William, whose father John passed away in 2015. Vicky was took her children on vacation on several family vacations, including a caravan trip, during the previous year.

Vicky’s best friend, Lorraine Mulgrew, revealed in an interview with The Mirror that Vicky’s “biggest worry” is leaving William fatherless and that she is “holding on for as long as possible”. Last February, Vicky received the bad news that her breast cancer had spread to all parts of her body and she had only three months to live.

According to Lorraine, “She tried to do everything she could for William for as long as possible.” I have never met anyone braver than her. Everything she endured was for William.” The boy’s father, a musician, died in 2015 at the age of 32.

Vicky found a tumor on one side of her chest two years after her husband’s untimely death. Her scans were clear after grueling rounds of radiation and chemotherapy.

However, Vicky started showing symptoms in late 2019 and was informed in February 2020 that she had terminal cancer after a CT scan showed tumors in her liver and ribcage. Her father, Jeff, died a few days after being diagnosed with ongoing health problems.

According to Lorraine, Vicky did a “wonderful job” of preparing William for what was to come. She had experienced the pain of children when her husband died, so she was ready. She told him the truth, Lorraine said.

She will answer: “William, I won’t get better this time. The doctors are doing their best to make me comfortable, but I won’t get better,” as he said: “When mom gets better, we’ll do everything.”

She did a great job, but no good job can prepare you for the loss of a parent, especially a mother so young. Multiple charities, including Butterwick Hospice and the Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Foundation, will help with Vicky’s funeral on January 29.
