Tarountula is a new type of bug monster introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Trainers can catch this Pokémon early in their adventures throughout Paldea. Tarountula is the kind of early bug that is almost inevitable in the series. Players will have no trouble finding this Pokémon or evolving monsters into stronger Spidops. Unlike some other bug types in previous games, trainers can keep this evolutionary line on their team for a long time scarlet and purple.
As with most Pokémon caught in the original routes, the player doesn’t have to train the tarantula for long. This is because monsters evolve in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet At level 15. Starting off weaker, but reaching a strong final form early is usually the norm for Bug-type Pokémon. The usefulness of these monsters also tends to diminish towards the end of the game as more potential party members are introduced. As a pure Bug, Spidops is a great choice against Grass or Shadow-type Pokémon. According to the entry in the Pokédex scarlet and purpleScythers are the natural enemies of this evolutionary line.
Where to catch tarantulas (and tarantulas) in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Tarountula is located in the southern part of the Paldea region, as shown in the image above. They are commonly found in grasslands and can be seen hanging from tree branches. The player can also capture Spidops and ignore the Tarountula evolution entirely. Moving a little northeast from the starting town, the trainer can be found at scarlet and purple. Both types of monsters can be encountered at any time of the day.
Despite only having a base stat of 404, Spidops boasts exceptionally high defense and defense, as well as impressive attack stats. However, the speed attribute of the Pokémon is very low, only 35, far behind the average of other monsters. Luckily, Spidops has a signature move, Silk Trap, that can block all destructive moves. Also, if a touch attack is blocked, the attacker’s speed attribute will be reduced by one level. Trainers can also be set up to enter a dangerous sticky grid, further reducing the speed stats of any Pokémon that switch mid-battle.
Tarountula and Spidops are both great bugs to use early and continue to use in the game. While exploring the Paldea area, Trainers need to be careful when encountering new Flying, Rock, and Fire Pokémon scarlet and purple. Bug type has double weakness for all three types, Spidop’s high defense might not be enough to stop KO. Coaches who begin their journey in Paldea should begin their journey at Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
